Chomp Chapter 22 Summary

  • Reflecting about how she feels, Raven wonders why she is so dedicated to Derek since he treats her badly, and realizes she likes to be a part of a team and that means taking care of Derek.
  • The police sergeant she is sitting with tells her again that they need to find the violent gunman before looking for a lost person.
  • News crews are already there and Gerry Germaine doesn't care about whether Derek is found.
  • Raven thinks about how cutthroat show business is and how anyone can be replaced.
  • We learn that she had hoped one day to become a big producer, but now she thinks that she has no chance (because Derek is missing).
  • Talking with the sergeant, Raven feels bad about suggesting that finding Derek was more important than catching the gunman.
  • The video of Mickey saving Derek from Alice impresses the sergeant and he says Jared must have his hands full.
  • Back at the scene of the crash, Mickey flies out of the boat and into some cattails, unhurt.
  • Unfortunately, Tuna's dad is also fine and just as mean as ever, pointing his gun again at Mickey.
  • Making Mickey carry the beer, Jared marches him up a hill.
  • Over and over, Jared slips but never falls and Mickey thinks about taking the gun away, but has no chance.
  • Jared chugs two beers and asks what they should do next. Mickey says they should wait for help, but Jared says he just wants to find his daughter.
  • Getting cheeky, Mickey tells Jared he has no chance of getting off the island without him.
  • In order to show Mickey who is in control, Jared makes him lie on the ground while he shoots at a peaceful heron. Mickey cringes but is relieved when he misses the bird.
  • Still trying to form a plan, Mickey thinks there are only three bullets left.
  • Under the tarp, Wahoo and Tuna leave Link to rest and head off to explore the island they landed on.
  • Tuna's sandals keep getting stuck in the mud so she kicks them off.
  • Being out in the wild is so different from watching it on TV, and Tuna is nervous.
  • Then they spot an airboat parked nearby so they creep up to it. The boat is painted camouflage so they recognize it as Link's, a.k.a. the boat stolen by Derek.
  • Wahoo calls out for the lost man and Derek answers, telling him to go away and beginning his anti-vampire chant again.
  • Frustrated, Wahoo commands him to come down from the tree and help them get the water out of Link's boat.
  • Then a gun fires and a heron flies away.
  • Wahoo asks if Derek is shot, and then Derek falls out of the tree.
