Character Analysis
We're pairing Flora and Goldenrod together here because they're twins, and they normally do stuff together in the book. Even Azalea thinks of them as a set: "The nine-year-old-twins reminded Azalea of a pair of dainty sparrows, both timid and eager at the same time" (4.4). When Mr. Bradford pays attention to Goldenrod, it has an effect on her: "As Flora's shadow, Goldenrod never harbored much attention, and she blushed pink to her ears. She beamed" (23.48). Aw… This also tells us that Flora is the more outgoing one of the pair.
