Character Analysis
One of the nobles of Eathesbury, she reminds "Azalea of one of the dolls on Silver Street: pale and perfect and expensive" (2.87). This makes her sound like she's got a pretty exterior but not much good going on inside. Our not-so-nice opinion of her is reinforced when she gloats to Azalea about getting to dance with Mr. Bradford: "With a look at Azalea that said I win, she grasped Lord Bradford's outstretched hand right over the handkerchief bandage—both he and Azalea winced—and part escorted, part dragged Lord Bradford to the dance floor" (2.98). Ugh.
Between the snarky I win look and the fact that she totally ignored Lord Bradford's injured hand, Lady Caversham doesn't seem like someone we want to get to know. Oh, and she also made a pass at Fairweller. She must be really desperate to snag a dude for herself.
