Going Bovine Chapter 6 Summary

Wherein My Part-time Gainful Employment Proves to Be a Hell Beyond All Imagining and I Make a Most Curious—Okay, Really Weird—Sighting

  • Cameron's mom tries to wake him up in time to mow the lawn (like he's been promising his dad he will) before he has to go to work at Buddha Burger. Spoiler alert: She fails. Cam ignores her despite her best attempts, and then sleeps in until he's basically late for his shift.
  • When he sees the feather, there's no longer anything written on it, so he decides he must've been more stoned than he thought.
  • As Cam pulls his mom's "Turdmobile" out of the driveway, his dad is mowing the lawn. No guilt is felt whatsoever.
  • He's only seven minutes late to work, but his boss is ticked off. (Pro tip: When it comes to work, early is on time and on time is late. Boom.) Lena, his shift manager who takes her break-time seriously, is also ticked.
  • Once again, though, Cam feels no guilt whatsoever that he's inconvenienced other people.
  • Just as Cam has to take over the counter, Staci Johnson and her posse walk in. Oh man.
  • They all order smoothies, which are a pain in the butt to make. And then disaster strikes. As Cam is delivering the drinks across the counter, his arms spasm uncontrollably, throwing them all over Staci Johnson.
  • Adding insult to injury, this debacle gets Cam fired. But before he clocks out for the last time, he sees a girl in the corner… with huge, white, fluffy wings.
