Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?
First Person (Central)
Going Bovine is written from Cam's point of view, which is, let's face it, the only way this story could work. Seeing as the vast majority of his epic quest is comprised from his rotting brain's delusions, having someone else narrate the tale would go more like this: "Cam had another seizure today. No fire giants reported. He's still dying." Not so thrilling, right?
It's also a great way to write a novel. We get extra invested in the main character because we know what he's thinking and feeling as the action progresses, and it's like we're living the adventure beside him. We get to see how Cam evolves as the tale develops, which only helps Cam since he isn't all that likeable in the beginning anyway.
