June
- The next chapter is told from the perspective of June, an elite student attending Drake University.
- At the moment, she's in the dean's office and is in trouble (as usual), but she doesn't really care because she's the Republic's prodigy. She scored a perfect 1500 on her Trial and started university four years ahead of schedule at the ripe old age of twelve.
- Apparently June is in trouble for scaling a wall with an XM-621 gun strapped to her back because she wanted to see how fast she could go.
- Her brother, Captain Metias Iparis, comes in (he takes care of her since their parents are dead) and is furious that she's in trouble again.
- Metias takes her home and asks her how far up she was able to get. Apparently she scaled fourteen stories.
- They get into the car and are driven home by another soldier, Thomas, who is super patriotic.
- Metias tells her that she really scared him because he was afraid that people would mistake her for Day and shoot her.
- June begs Metias to take her on one of his missions, but he hasn't done that since last year when she went on one and was hurt.
- They're dropped off at home and Metias tells June that he's going on a mission tonight and will be home late. He's overseeing the lab at Los Angeles Central Hospital.
