Legend Chapter 10 Summary

June

  • June simply can't stop thinking about a certain handsome someone. When she lies alone at night, she thinks of kissing him, and of how she was wrong about him killing Metias.
  • The next day, she goes to a café with Thomas for dinner, since she has to keep up appearances and can't act like she suspects him of killing her brother.
  • Thomas is still pretty jealous and tells her that maybe she should stop seeing Day, but she just dismisses his suggestions.
  • That night she goes back to her apartment and looks through the photos of Metias's crime report again. Then she goes through his journals so that she can feel close to him.
  • But as she's going through the journals, she notices something odd… Metias has misspelled certain words. That's very unlike him, since he's usually an excellent speller.
  • She frantically goes through all his journals and takes out the 24 misspelled words that she finds. Then she compiles the missing letters from each word and starts to scramble it to find a message. One pops up: "WWW FOLLOW ME JUNE BUG DOT COM." He left her a secret website.
  • She logs on and finds a series of blog entries that Metias left for her. In them, she finds something shocking—he talks about how he discovered that their father had meant to resign from his job before both he and their mother died in an "accident," and how their dad had found out that the Republic engineers the plagues every year. The truth is out. Day was right.
  • June curls up on the couch and ignores Thomas when he comes to check up on her. She remembers a time when Metias was upset because he had to shoot a little girl who tried to escape her Trial.
  • After she has had time to process everything, June decides she's going to help Day escape.
