How It All Goes Down
- Natasha doesn't want to tell Daniel that she wishes she could go back in time and erase the greatest day of her father's life, so she explains the science of time travel instead.
- He's looking at her like he's falling in love, and she tells him not to.
- She doesn't believe in love. She remembers dating Rob and liking being around him, but she always knew she didn't need him.
- Daniel says love exists whether you believe in it or not, and she says you can't prove it. It can't be studied scientifically.
- "People just want to believe. Otherwise they'd have to admit that life is just a random series of good and bad things that happen one day until you die" (76-77).
- Daniel finds this nihilism delightful and says he's never met somebody so "charmingly deluded" (77).
- Natasha takes a second to listen to Pearl Jam on the speakers, and when she opens her eyes, Daniel's looking at her.
- He says he can get her to fall in love with him scientifically. She doubts it.
