How It All Goes Down
- Post-makeout, Daniel is thinking about all the stars that had to align for them to meet today.
- He tells Natasha they're meant to be, which of course freaks her out again.
- She says she's sorry for flip-flopping so much, and Daniel eases the tension by hamming it up again.
- They banter about Daniel's passion for poetry. Natasha doesn't understand why so many poems are about stars, and she name-checks the title of the book: "The sun is also a star, and it's our most important one. That alone should be worth a poem or two" (178).
- They discuss living in the moment, and then Daniel asks about Natasha's dad. Weird post-makeout topic, bro.
- She says his primary emotion is regret, like he took a wrong turn and ended up with their family.
- He says his mom used to be a painter, which he never knew about her, and he sometimes wonders what her life would be like if she didn't have family obligations.
- Natasha says it's good that his mom is happy with her life as it is, though.
- He wants to kiss again, and she asks him why he wants to be a poet. He says it's the best he ever feels about himself, except when he's with her.
- She kisses him.
