The Raven Boys Chapter 3 Summary

  • 300 Fox Way—which is where Blue and her crazy family of female psychics live—is pretty hectic in the morning. After all, everyone's answering phone calls, eating breakfast, and getting ready hastily. And everyone has a big personality.
  • After the night at the church though, Blue sleeps in and wakes up super late. When she gets up, Maura is in the kitchen making some kind of awful, stinky tea. Apparently, it's a "meditation tea."
  • Blue asks her mom and Neeve why she's so drained, and they tell her that she lets the dead spirits walk through her and drain her energy. Yikes. That's not creepy at all… not.
  • She brings up warning Gansey about his future death, but Maura tells her that you can't really do that. The only reason Maura tells her clients if they're going to die is because sometimes they want to get their things in order.
  • Neeve asks Blue if she wants to know how Gansey dies, and of course, Blue is curious, even though her mom's face shows that she doesn't exactly approve.
  • After Neeve does the ritual, though, things aren't clearer. She just saw that one moment Gansey was there… and then next, he wasn't. That's not altogether surprising, considering that they live in Henrietta, which is a place where unexplained phenomena regularly occur.
  • Blue tells her aunt and her mom that even though she missed school, she's still going to work tonight. They stare at her outfit, which involves several shirts layered together and shredded. Her fashion sense is quite… eccentric.
  • As Blue leaves the kitchen, Maura tells her to remember not to kiss anyone.
