The Raven Boys Chapter 36 Summary

  • Ronan drops Adam off at home and tells him that he doesn't have to get out here if he doesn't want to. But Adam knows that this is where he lives, so he thanks Ronan for the ride and hops out of the car.
  • He walks inside and finds that his dad is drunk and raring for a fight. He's found Adam's pay stubs and wants to know why he isn't contributing more to the family funds. He knows that his good for nothing son is spending all that money on his private school tuition instead.
  • His dad starts to beat on him and punches him in the head. He does it again, but all of a sudden Ronan breaks onto the scene and punches Adam's dad.
  • Adam dazedly steps back and watches as his friend and his father fight each other, and then the cops show up on the scene. They're about to arrest Ronan, but Adam stops them.
  • He tells the cops that Ronan was only trying to defend him, and that his dad was beating him up—and that he's beaten him up many times before.
  • Then he does something that he can't take back: He asks the cops if he can press charges against his own father.
