- When Blue comes downstairs, she finds that their kitchen is chock-full. All of the house's residents are there, plus the raven boys; she can see that Gansey has a broken thumb from hitting Whelk's gun away.
- Maura gets upset with Neeve for hiding the fact that she's been looking for ley lines, when she claimed that she was committed to finding Blue's father.
- They all agree that Barrington Whelk is probably going to attempt the ritual again, and that they should go look for him. Neeve thinks that they should wake up the ley lines, which seems crazy, since it involves a ritual sacrifice.
- Neeve reminds them that a sacrifice doesn't always mean killing something, and says that whoever wakes the crossroad will be favored—both the one who sacrificed and the one who is sacrificed.
- Gansey decides that they have no choice but to go back to Cabeswater, where they met all those creepy talking trees. His friends agree to follow him to the end.
