- Adam shows up looking awful, and then sits down next to her and puts his head on her lap. Even though Blue is startled, she strokes his hair and says that she thinks he is so awfully brave.
- He says that he wants to kiss her, and she says that she doesn't want to hurt him. He looks away and Blue feels sad, knowing that if she didn't have that terrible fate hanging over her, this would be her first kiss. Darn her family and all their pesky predictions.
- When Adam asks Blue what he should do now, she tells him that he should just keep being brave.
- Adam wakes up from a nightmare in which Gansey is bloody and dying. He realizes that he's in Noah's room. This is where he lives now, which makes him feel miserable; he can never go home and talk to his parents again.
- He wants so badly to find Glendower so that he can ask for a favor and lead his life on his own terms, but he doesn't want to bring his friends into a perilous situation either.
- Maybe he'll just do it alone. He goes to his bag, where he has the gun that he took from his father, and then he heads outside.
