Character Analysis

Maura is a psychic and is raising her teenage daughter in a house full of other female psychics, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't harbor the same old concerns as every other parent. When she learns that Blue is supposed to either fall in love with or kill a boy named Gansey, she forbids her daughter from hanging out with the raven boys:

Maura caught Blue's expression. She said, "I've never told you to do anything before, Blue. But I'm telling you now. Stay away from them." (15.189)

Maura just wants her daughter to be safe and happy. She doesn't want Blue to suffer or be in any kind of danger because of the adventures that the raven boys are going on. Is that so much for a parent to ask? When you factor in teenage hormones, we're going to have to go with yes.
